Kings Creek in Lassen Volcanic National Park glows with golden hues at the end of the Golden Hour. I hiked past this serene scene earlier in the day when the sun was higher and, after checking my compass, hoped for clouds and color at sunset. Nature did not disappoint. I stood in awe, soaking in the tranquility, until it was nearly too dark to make my way back. This unforgettable evening left a lasting impression.
Unfortunately, the Dixie Fire of 2021 devastated this area, burning nearly every tree in view. In time, nature will heal, and a new kind of beauty will emerge as the landscape transforms.
