National Almond Day – 2026

Turns out today is National Almond Day. I figure it is a great day to share my entire portfolio of almond related imagery. It won’t take very long as it currently consists of one image. This is one of my early IR images, captured at 590 nanometers on a roadside leg stretch in Artois, California (gateway to Bayless, Jacinto, and parts beyond).

After a red/blue color “channel swap” and a bit of painterly processing, I liked the results with this one (and it prints beautifully on canvas – hashtag shameless plug).

Infrared photograph of almond trees in full bloom lining a country orchard road beneath a dramatic, cloud-filled spring sky. Captured with a 720nm infrared filter on a full spectrum converted camera, the scene features luminous white foliage against soft blue tones, creating a dreamlike, high-contrast composition. The symmetrical rows of trees draw the viewer’s eye toward the horizon, emphasizing depth, balance, and the ethereal quality of near-infrared light. Ideal for infrared photography keywords, spring orchard landscapes, and fine art nature imagery.
